Left to right: Blushing Golden, Golden Russet, Esopus Spitzenberg |
It's December, and time to open up the chest of pirate booty and start eating those keeper apples you put down against the inevitable coming of winter.
I've got a lot to choose from, including (not shown) some Suncrisp , also a few Cox's Orange Pippin, still flavorful though past peak.
In the photo above are Blushing Golden, Golden Russet, and Esopus Spitzenberg.
These are two-star apples, a rating these fruits earn by their quality eaten out of hand and as keepers.
