Properly managed, Lady Alice peaks in March and is delightful.
She is back this year after a long absence.
My part of the world is often shortchanged, so I do not assume this was a universal problem.
Here in recent years, I only saw Alice for sale in the fall, when she is (1) less compelling and possibly (2) a year old.
I gather that managing Alice can be a bit tricky.
Now, among the aging Galas and Honeycrisps, her malty crunch is timely and very welcome.
I would love to see an Alice at our grocery store this time of year.
