We had 24 varieties of apples at farmers market today, including 2 kinds of Macs.
Headliners included Esopus Spitzenberg, Spartan, Ashmead's Kernel, Melrouge, Jonathan, Golden Russet, and of course lovely Macoun, queen of the season.
This is two, three, six apples-a-day time. I had to pass on some really fine varieties because my bag was full of others.
P.S. The same spread will be in Belmont tomorrow. What are you waiting for?

Adam, what is the name of that vendor at the market?
ReplyDeleteI really should identify these great growers! The first photo shows Kimball Farm and the second Dick's Market.
DeleteNot shown is Nicewicz Family Farm, which sells top-quality produce, including apples. Unfortunately the brother who comes to Arlington only brings the basic varieties.
However, the family often brings heritage apples (as available) to Belmont and Somerville.
