In Massachusetts, the day before the American Thanksgiving is the last for shoppers seeking produce and other goods direct from the farm.

It was a low-key ending to a year of queuing, hand sanitizer, and masks at the outdoor markets.

The pandemic's effects on the apple harvest may never be fully appreciated, but there were certainly new logistical challenges getting fruit to market. Quality and variety suffered this year.

Somerville's winter market, usually indoors, is still on as of this writing, with new curbside pickup options and limited outdoor sales.
