If you have to stick a plastic label on your fruit, why not design it to a fare-thee-well?
Of course to do so requires a marketing budget. So, if you see a fancy PLU sticker, the fruit in question is almost certainly still under patent and controlled by a single grower or cartel.
Older varieties, however great, have no such slush funds and get the generic treatment.
Not sure I understand the selfie-taking, but the bee is cute.
