The Gingergolds that I found too lemony a few weeks ago had mellowed out into agreeableness the next week when I bought more; I bought a few more yesterday but they're on the verge of mealy, now. Same with the Gravensteins. I am anxious to see what the new-to-me Sunny Farms market in Sequim will be serving up in the coming weeks. I have high expectations of a place that carried something like 5 different varieties of apricot and even more varieties of peach, all kept separate and labeled. They have new crop Honeycrisps, but I passed on those. Not my favorite.
ReplyDeleteHi Mike! In the NW now? Or just visiting?
DeleteHere to stay. Some land to plant trees on, and an order in to Trees of Antiquity for Cox Orange, Ashmead's, D'Arcy Spice, Liberty, Summer Rambo, and Esopus Spitzenburg. Liberty intended as a good pollenizer and a disease-resistant main trunk for lots of grafting. (William's Pride would have been nice for that, too, but TofA didn't have any on offer, and I wasn't going to split the order between different nurseries. William's Pride can go on the early tree; it is hoped that Summer Rambo can be a good main trunk for that tree.
ReplyDeleteA big change for you, I think! Sounds like a noble selection, may it prosper!
