Under the big top

Hundreds of apples sorted into large open crates by type, under an awning in the grey outdoors
Twenty-six different kinds of apples were on offer this morning at Volante Farms in Needham, Massachusetts.

These included the excellent Topaz, Pinata, Liberty, and Evercrisp, and many conventional varieties.

I missed out on getting any Blue Pearmain. Mostly modern varieties left today, though I saw some Northwest Greening.

Volante offers an entire farmers market's worth of choices because they sell from multiple orchards.

Another draw is a web page dedicated to telling us what apples they have in any given week. Volante keeps it up to date, though they warn that things can sell out.

Most growers have websites these days that list some or all of what they grow.

Hey apple farmer: if you want to drum up more business, take a few minutes to do as Volante does, and tell us what you have today.
