New year's wishes

A very happy 2018 to you!

I am pleased, and a little surprised, to look back on this blog in 2017 and see a healthy number of posts, including 22 apple reviews.

I could not have done it without your encouragement in the form of comments, suggestions, good wishes, and, sometimes, apples and other good things.

This is a seasonal blog, so things will be slow for a while. Let's hope that, as in the orchard, a quiet winter is the time to gather strength for a bountiful harvest in the summer and fall.

  1. Happy New Year to you as well. I'm glad to have found your little corner of the internet here.

I am saddened that soon the apple choices will be pared to the supermarket standard fare of Fuji, Gala, Braeburn, and the Delicious twins.

Perhaps an article on how you have your cold storage set up? I found the years-old one but am interested to know if you do anything other than bins in a refrigerator.

    1. That's not a bad idea! Not that I am any paradigm, but I do know what I am supposed to do.

  2. Adam,

A question: Do you have a list of apples you want to try - that you seek out - or do you try what you find? If the former, perhaps you could write a column with your Top 10 List of apples you want to find. I think readers would be happy to get samples to you.

This is a selfish suggestion, as it would mean more of your reviews.

A Happy New Year to you, too.

    1. Mostly M: in principle I am interested in all untried (by me) varieties equally.

There are also many varieties I'd like to try again from a suspicion that my review samples did not represent the apple at peak, e.g. Kidds Orange Red, recently.
