Fruit of neglect

I am sorry to see the state of things at the old Nagog Hill Orchard, now several years into its abandonment. ¶ 

A single red apple, pockmarked and small, on a brnach surrounding by a sea of green leaves.

Nobody seems to have the wherewithal to make a go of these trees, held (with the land) in trust by the Town of Littleton in Massachusetts.

The untended trees are a riot of leaves and branches, but bear little fruit.

My photos date from last Friday.

I am sorry to lose this orchard, which gave me many of the apples I photographed, tasted, and described in this website.

    Very sad, indeed, Adam. I wish I lived closer and could take a shot at it!
