I learned about some of these from my readers. So, not exactly news to everyone. But, enjoy.
Apple Tourism: This BBC report takes us to Kazakhstan and the Father of Apples, where the original wild apple species faces an existential threat.
I think of this story as a natural sequel to an earlier BBC visit to Kazakhstan's apples (with photo essay), which I shared in 2009.
The recent story is part of a culinary roots series from BBC Travel.
Urban Foraging: Speaking of wild apples, the New York Times ran an entertaining short story back in September about finding then in the city.
To come: Stories on cider and Honeycrisp alternatives.
