All the print that's fit to eat

The Boston Globe, anticipating pomological fall, on Wednesday published a two-paged guide to some of New England's most interesting orchards and apple experiences. ¶ 

Cider donuts too, of course.

The online version of this story may be paywalled, but I have attempted to share it as a gift article. Its many photos are worth viewing on something bigger than a phone, if you can.

The author only describes a few orchards, including some of my favorites, but the online edition includes an interactive map of many more, including some as far as Lebanon, New Hampshire.

Pomme nerds rejoice!

The title of this feature is "Where the apple nerds go apple picking." Nice to get some recognition! Apples in New England in the fall are worthy of this sort of celebration.  

Usually the Globe will publish an apple story in October, when things are really rocking in the orchards but a lot of the action is past. 

Let's hope this earlier publication will get more people out of the supermarkets and into the field sooner.

If so, they will be greeted by an apple crop that Jon Clements of UMass's Cold Spring Orchard, quoted in the story, calls "pretty outstanding for most growers."

Have at it everybody! There is not a moment to be lost.
