EVERYTHING MUST GO

A sign on a crate of apples advertises a $25-a-peck special.
The end of the season is nigh at the Davis Square farmers market earlier today. ¶

With just a week to go before the markets' seasonal end, there are fewer farmers with less fruit and less time. ¶

Deals can be had.

Apples at the market today:

At eleven varieties, we are down one from last week.

Bundled agaisnt the chill, vendors and customers line a table laden with friot and vegitables
November's low light leaves the Davis Square market in shadow earlier today.

I won't lie: this is thin stuff compared to October's bounty, and one of my late-season mainstays is missing this year.

Clear bags of apples flank a sign advertising one 10-pound bag for $15, 2 for $25.
Apples were on special at farmers market today.

But there is still plenty of good eating here, out of hand or in a pie, tart, or crumble.

A long table bearing crates and bags of apples separates two women.
